My favorite hike in Arizona is on Black Mountain. It’s a 2.2 mile hike straight up and down with a 1,194' elevation gain. Climbing over sharp black granite that juts out of the earth makes its terrain dangerous. If you fall you’re likely to cut your hands or bruise yourself. The mountain has many native desert plants that grow into unique shapes. I liked seeing the angles in the agave plants and the gestures of the human-like cacti. So, I snapped some photos and then later had fun painting them together.
