It’s a colorful spring here in the desert after a damp, rainy winter. The plants are exploding colors of green, yellow, purple, pink, white, red and orange. I pickedyellow flowers from a Desert Marigold bush growing in our yard to make a still-life. I arranged them in a green glass with some Pink Muhly grasses and snapped some reference photos while the sun was hot and shadows were strong. In my painting, I used saturated warm hues to make the flowers pop and cooler, lighter tones in the background to recede. I like how the combination of rich colors mixed with my wild composition made for an exciting sunny-looking painting. What do you think?
