These pretty cacti look like they’re soft and fluffy and people have given them the nickname, Teddy Bear cactus. But, they're proper name is “Jumping Cholla” because if you touch one its thorns will jump onto you. Once the sticky thorns enter your skin they're very difficult to remove. If you try to use your fingers to remove them the spikes will jump into them and continue to prick you. So, some people carry a small-toothed comb with them while hiking to help with the removal process, in case they get attacked by one. Ouch!
