This traditional flat-bottomed rabelo boat only exists in Portugal. It was historically used for transporting people and goods (especially port wine) along the Douro River. I love how boats each have their own unique characteristics. This boat has a long wooden pole at its rear which is used for steering; it’s what gave the rabelo boat its nickname of “little tail”.
